CALL FOR SCORES

Express Your Voice

We are looking to expand our repertoire so that more music of the AAAPI (Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander) cultures can be heard. Send your score for a chance to be featured in upcoming performances and recordings by INTERWOVEN.

Since our primary mission is to elevate the visibility of AAAPI musicians/composers in the classical music field, all of the musicians of INTERWOVEN identify as people of Asian heritage or allies of the AAAPI community. We strongly encourage non-Asian individuals to write for us so we can fortify the bonds between various racial groups. Musicians/composers of any religious beliefs and any sexual/gender orientation are invited to collaborate with us.

What we are looking for:

  • a composition that involves traditional Asian instruments such as: Koto, Shamisen, Shakuhachi, Taiko, Piri, Saenghwang, Taepyungso, Kayageum, Haegeum, Erhu, Pipa, etc.

  • a composition that is inspired by the pan-Asian culture (sonority, painting, literature, architecture, etc.) written for European string instruments

  • original arrangements of pan-Asian folk tunes (may or may not include traditional Asian instruments)

  • music for strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass) is preferred, but any additional instruments are welcome. Compositions for Baroque instruments are accepted as well.

  • Upon submission, please include your CV/résumé and biography.
